Developing a Rhythm and Practice of Writing - Part 12

How do you overcome writer’s block?

It’s hard to keep writing consistently especially when writing is not our work and there are no “consequences” to not writing.  The ease to stop is so much greater than the discipline to keep writing.

Here are five ideas to help you overcome writers' block:

    1. Talk to yourself
    2. Write in Bullet Points
    3. Prompts and Questions
    4. Rewrite & Edit
    5. Writing Challenges

REWRITE & EDIT

Every time you write doesn’t have to be something new. Oftentimes I will revisit a post and rewrite it or edit it. We don’t stay the same. Especially if you have a learn-it-all mindset, we are growing daily. The person I am today writing this is not the same person I was a year ago or a decade ago.

The regular review and rewrite of your post may help you deepen the convictions discovered and renew a commitment you made. Oftentimes the conviction and commitment will lead you to finding greater clarity and courage to take your next steps today.

This also means you need to have a central place to store your writings. I use the Moleskine Journal as my physical archive, Notion as my digital archive and this blog as my sharable archive.

How are you storing your writings?

This entry is for Month-long writing challenge for our The Beautiful Future Members. Every weekday, we write and share with one another to build and strengthen our practice of writing.
