My Journaling Practice and the Components

Developing a Rhythm and Practice of Writing - Part 15

My most important tool in life is my Journal. If my house was on fire, I would run in to save my collection of journals. It’s that precious to me.

It has been the one practice that I can attribute to my learning and growing towards wholeness and wellbeing. Also, it’s where I discovered the greatest insights to help people to see differently and to live beautifully. It’s where I found clarity and courage to take my next steps toward co-creating the beautiful future.

I tried different journals throughout the decade. As you can see, for the last couple of years, I used the Black Moleskine Expanded (400 pages) Dot Grid Journal consistently. Whenever they go on sale, I stock up on it.

I don't use a digital journal. I tried a few times throughout the years. Digital takes away the slow pace of analog, personalization of handwriting and the tangible artifacts of each journal. I like that it's one of a kind. It feels more sacred and precious because it can be lost and destroyed.

In the next series of posts, I will show you an inside look into my journal and how I utilize it:

Here are the components of my journal today:

  1. Daily Planner - 2x2 Grid and Sessions
  2. My personal “Instagram” and "Moments" Tracker
  3. Daily Practices and Habit Tracker
  4. Remember the Future Pages
  5. Prayer Logs
