How to write consistently over time

Developing a Rhythm and Practice of Writing - Part 21

The easy part is starting. The real challenge is to keep writing consistently.

One person that has served as a model is Seth Godin. What started in 1995 as an email newsletter and since 2006, Seth has posted a blog every single day.

I don’t plan on posting everyday but my intention with this writing challenge was to build a practice of writing everyday. One key factor I will leverage in staying consistent is to create tension. It’s another idea I learned from Seth Godin in one of his Akimbo Workshops.

Action is created because of tension. And so tension is needed to help us be motivated.

What is that tension, for me, it this:

“I am not that good at writing but I need to become a writer to do my best work”.

So what must I do? I must show up and do the work and ask for help.

This entry is for Month-long writing challenge for our The Beautiful Future Members. Every weekday, we write and share with one another to build and strengthen our practice of writing.
